Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is to partner with University of Southampton on the study of First Generation Bio fuels project.
Dr. Sai Gu, a senoir lecturer in School of Engineering, University of Southampton announced this when he visited KNUST with some scientists from Council for Scientific and Industrial Research of Ghana (CSIR). “The three-year project is to set up a pilot plant and build capacity, not just among scientist in CSIR, but other Scientist in the country especially, those from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology”, he said. He added, to build up research capacity in Ghana, we need to work closely with an Institute that has very good potential and talented people or products, that is why we have come to KNUST. I believe KNUST has a lot of candidates for this wholesome project”.
According to him, energy is the main drive for the future and that it has become the most important factor for almost all the nations of the world. Therefore the project would serve as an effective tool to help check waste of products.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. K. K. Adarkwa expressed his joy and said that, it was a welcome news. He added that, there is no doubt Dr. Saiko said KNUST is the best to participate in such programme. He briefed the delegation about the on-going research activities in the University.
He made mention that, KNUST jointly organises research activities and projects with institutions in Ghana and abroad. As a University noted for providing excellent Science and Technology education in the country and one of the finest in African, the University would do everything possible to support the laudable initiative and make it succeed.
